Reflection Snack Foods

The snack I chose was Doritos. My partner and I thought that about 11 chips was the serving size and we tured out to be correct. This did not suprise me because Doritos chips are big. Knowing this I thought that there would be more calories in a single chip then some other smaller chips like cheetos. I think that the serving size seems small compared to other serving sizes of samller chips, but really it's not that bad because of their size.

Reflection

In Online Expierence I learned more than just how to use a computer, I learned morals that I will need to use for the rest of my life. I learned that online netiquet is important and that you must use it. Also, I learned how to keep safe online. I learned certain tools that will help me get work done faster. Also I now have websites that will be convienent to my use like Delicious.Thechnology is always evolving which is why it is important to have a online epierence class. The computer is not the same as it was five years ago. There are new websites, new applications, and online expierence teaches us how to use these to our advantage. Generation after generation, technology evolvs into the next big thing so in five years from now I imagine they'll have the latest piece of technology. Phones, computers, telivisions, ect. they all change. Most people don't relise how much they really depend on technology. Technology is with us through our every day lives. I use computers to type up papers, do research, and so much more. At home I use my cell phone, my ipod, my xbox, the list could go on and on. And now because of online expierence i will be able to use technology to my full advantage. Like if I find a good website I want to share with my friends, i'll use the social network site Delicious. Also, now that I know the morals used when on the web, I will always have netiquet that will keep me out of trouble. I have to say online saftey is the most important thing we learn in online expierence. Each year we are taught it and each year I am reminded of how dangerous the web can be. I think the least important is using the avatar sites. I don't think i'll ever be going on those sites again.I really enjoyed making the blog because I get to see what other people write. I took so much from online expierence but one can always learn more.

Avatar Site Comparison

Both avatar sites were good and easy but my favorite was the vokie one. I thought it was easier than blabberize because you didn't have to create the mouth on your avatar for the voki one. On the blabberize one you did and I thought it was difficult. Also I had many different avatars and cartoons to choose from for the voki one. They could have any color hair you want. You could make them really silly or make them look just like you. The blabberize is a good site to use if you want to use a person in history or famous people today. However, overall I enjoyed the Voki avatar more.

Copyright Case

This case had to deal with the movie Batman Forever. In the movie a sculpture appeared as a back drop as much as eight times in the movie. Warner Bros. stated, “Since the film crew had permission from the building owner to film at the site, they had a right to include in the shots the sculpture which was located on the grounds.” However the artist did not transfer his copyright to the building owner. The building owner didn’t have the authority to let the Warner Bros. use the sculpture in shots of the movie. They needed to get permission from the copyright holder. The Warner Bros. did not get a license to use the sculpture. In result, the artist filed a multi-million dollar against Warner Bros. for copyright infringement. The Artist of the sculpture is Andrew Leicester and his sculpture cost 2.5 million. The trial came down to two points, one being the copyright infringement for using his sculpture in their production, and two the copyright infringement for filming and taking photographs of the sculpture. It turns out that as part of the contract for the commission of the sculpture, Leicester gave the building owner the exclusive right to make 3-D copies of the sculpture.
Regarding to the first issue, the court decided that the Warner Bros. were not guilty of copyright infringement because the artist gave the building owner a particular copyright making him the holder of the copyright. Regarding the second issue the court decided that the sculpture towers were actually apart of the building so taking pictures of them weren’t considered fringing. So as a whole, the Warner Bros. were not accountable for copyright. Leicester’s sculpture was set apart so it would not be apart as the architectural design of the building. http://www.benedict.com/Visual/Batman/Batman.aspx

Online Safety

1.    Teresa gave out her brother’s name Billy Jr. this indicated that Teresa father’s name is probably Billy. Also by her name it indicates she’s a female. She also gave out that she liked basketball music and hanging out with friends. Also she gave out that she has an e-mail account and an instant message account with valid addresses for both. By leaving her accounts in the open we can check what group discussions she’s been in and what she said. In a message she gave her telephone number, the time she will most likely be home, her mother or sisters name, and her e-mail address. With her telephone number we can find out A LOT about Teresa.
2.    I have not put too much out on the internet, but on Facebook I have stated my birthday and my first and last name.
3.    Deputy Krupp’s most important rule is use common sense.
Safety
I watched a video about a teen girl who shared her password with her bestfriend. She thought that it would be safe to share her password with the one she is really close to but it ended up ending in disaster. Her bestfriend gave her passwrod to the meanest girls in school who ruined her reprutation. They got on her e-mail and sent a picture to some seniors at school but of course it really wasn't a picture of the girl. They photo shopped her head on a body they got from the internet. Now every where she goes she is pointed at and whispered about. She has no friends and she wishes she can start over but it's not that simple. This video shows that it's not okay to share your passwords, not even with your closest friend.

Netiquette

Netiquette is a set of rules you follow online. These set of rules help you to not offend other people and help you stay out of trouble on the net. It keeps in mind proper etiquette, morals, and ethics. Etiquette means to have polite behavivor when you are adressing a group of people. Netiquette helps to point out how easy it is to offend people. Sometimes people forget that there is an actual human being on the other side of that e-mail. It helps you to think, would I like it if someone said that to me? You may say yes or you may say no. Either way you must always keep in mind other peopels feelings. Without Netiquette the internet would be cluttered with rude people.

The War Between Facebook Users and Facebook Developers

I recently read an article called, "Facebook Users are Cranky, but Developers Like What They See." Basically, this article is about all the changes that are being done to Facebook. Many users of Facebook are fusterated with all the difficult and complicated cahnges that are being done. They want Facebook back to normal. Kevin Rose, who founded Digg, said in response to the outbreaks, "The fb news ticker reminds me of the hate when the news feed launched," he tweeted, referring to negative reaction Facebook's members had when the feature first launched in 2006. "Everyone will love/accept it in a few days... watch." The Facebook Developers feel confident in their new changes to the popular social network and state that this will follow the traditional cycle and soon will be accepted like always. Developers feel the changes were nesscacary and will make Facebook more efficient to use. Developers feel that after users get use to the change things will go back to normal. This artical was interesting to read and i might continue to follow on with the battle of Facebook as it progresses  http://money.cnn.com/2011/09/22/technology/facebook_f8_reaction/index.htm.

RSS

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Syndication means website material that is made available to multiple other sites. I think this defintion really helps me to understand what an RSS does because, a RSS (like Google Reader) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Basically, if i find a web site intersting and informing I can add the subscription to my Google Reader. By doing this I will get notifications when something new was added instead of having to check the website myself. It helps me to not waist my time by checking the website I like but nothing being new. Not only does it tell me when newsfeeds are updated but it tells me if blogs are updated too. RSS makes using the web much easier.

About Delicious

Delicious is a social bookmarking website. Basicly, this is the website you would go to if you would want to keep all your favorite websites in one spot for easy access. Because Delicious is a social bookmarking website I get to discover new websites by looking at the tags people post. This website is very useful because, it keeps all the blogs, music, reviews, recipies, and more things that you enjoy in an organized list. Also if you would like to discover new recipies or something you can explore tags and discover new things. This is why I think Delicious will be useful to me in my personal life when im looking for music websites or books and so much more. It will help me at school by being so organized and easy to use when my teacher tells me to get online.

Technology and Me

I use technology everday for all different reasons like schoolwork and etertainment. At school I use a computer everday in my online expeirence class. Also I sometimes have to type up a report at home or maybe reasearch something for a paper im writing, but thats not all i use computers for. I also go on the computer when im going on facebook or twitter. I sometimes check my e-mail, watch tv shows and movies, listen to music, or simply just browse the web, but my favorite thing to do on the web is play video games like Portal, Terria, and Amnesia. Thats not all the technology I use. I also use my phone. It's a blackberry curve and I use it to text, send pictures, go on facebook, and look at youtube videos all on the go. I wouldn't say i'm obssessed with my phone, i'm more obssessed with my x box 360, another peice of technology I use. I play video games all day sometimes with my cousin or brother. Some of my favorites is Assassins Creed, Black Ops, and Bioschock. I also like to watch movies on it. Of course i also have a tv where i watch all my favorite shows. The last peice of technology i use is my I pod. I listen to music 24/7. Technology plays a big impact in my life.
